The Vietnamese Embassy in the Republic of South Africa held a ceremony in Pretoria on May 17 to commemorate the 126th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh.

Vietnamese Ambassador to South Africa Le Huy Hoang, along with the Vietnamese community in the country, offered incense to President Ho Chi Minh at his altar in the Embassy.

Staff at the Embassy and Vietnamese people in South Africa also attended a talk on President Ho Chi Minh's moral example. They expressed gratitude and respect for President Ho and his great contributions to the revolutionary cause of the nation as well as reviewing the ideology of the President in the field of diplomacy.

Ambassador Le Huy Hoang also commended examples of individuals studying and following President Ho Chi Minh's moral example.

Earlier on May 14, the Vietnamese Embassy and Vietnamese community in South Africa held a cultural and sports exchange with embassies and communities of ASEAN countries in South Africa including Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.

The event aimed to celebrate the cultural week in honour of President Ho Chi Minh and strengthen the solidarity between ASEAN countries.

Ambassador Hoang hoped that the event would help ASEAN communities and local people understand about President Ho Chi Minh's morals, ideology and revolutionary cause as well as the cultural values and people of Vietnam.
